Colin McRae Rally and later Dirt (stylized as DiRT) is a series of rally games. The series has mainly been made by Codemasters. The franchise started in 1998 when the first game came out: Colin McRae Rally. The games are named after rally drive Colin McRae. Since the release of DiRT 3, the Colin McRae name hasn't been used in non-US territory releases (it wasn't used in the United States); the rally driver lost his life in a helicopter accident in 2007.
