  • Hello

I would like to know if these are still being updated, since I just recently learned about them and have added two wikias where I'm currently an admin (Metal Slug on platformers and SaGa on RPGs).

I would also like to know how many wikias are needed to warrant a new footer. There is currently no footer for shoot'em ups, and I'd like to have one for this genre.

    • Thanks :) I'll take some time this week to look over them and then design the footer, should all go as planned with the submissions.

    Hello Raylan,

My name is Rapmilo and I am the administrator of LEGO Marvel and DC Super Heroes Wiki which currently has 926 content articles as of now.

I would like to, if possible, apply under the Action/Adventure footer.

However, I want to make it clear that the LMDCSH wiki isn't entirely about video-games. The wiki also covers some other media released by LEGO including movies and other content. There are also a few pages that cover LEGO sets or toys. That being said the vast majority of the pages are filled with video game related content as that is what makes up most of the wiki.

Because of this I am not sure if the LMDCSH wiki is qualified to apply for the footer. If so please let me know. Also keep in mind that around 75-80% of the wiki is videogame based.

    Thanks in advance.

  • So this seems like a long shot to me but non-the-less i might as well ask since the wikis getting a couple hundred thousand views a week at this point.

so i was wondering if there was any chance the one of the wikis i own [Spookys house of jump scares] could be featured on a horror game footer due to its rise in popularity. We have been directly involved with the creator of the game Sheena (psychobilly2422) and hence our information is up to date and directly from the source.

that being said the game could also fit fairly cozy in a parody game footer although i dont believe one exists.

    anyways just an inquiry,

    Thanks!

  • I'd wish to have Skylines Wikia, formally and specifically called Cities:Skylines Wikia, as part of the Simulations branch.

Most of the important items have been completed or in near completion. This applies to theme design (still proud to this day *tears*), templates, project pages, and more. The only real issue that I, the only contributor, am experiencing is pushing more content out with the little amount of content left in the game that I can create (besides small, independent building pages). I intend to push more content out as the weeks go by (even if it is small), although it will take longer than it should when the only contributor has too much on his plate right now lol.

Anyways, despite the half amount of content pages that is recommended for the gaming footers, I feel Skylines Wikia would be a great addition to the Simulations branch with it being one of the most popular Steam games of 2015. I think the small publicity can help increase activity if people knew the wiki existed (there's an official wiki out there, so it's much harder to get more people).

I felt I needed to discuss my little issue with you in order to understand my plea to have this wiki added lol.

    Thanks!

    • Seems perfectly reasonable to me ;) I'll have it added to the footer and up on your main page momentarily!

  • The page Raylan13/Introducing_New_Gaming_Footers introduces the "New Gaming Footers". This topic could use some discussion. However, there is neither a "Talk" button nor a "Comments" button. I assume that this is because that page is in the user namespace. To facilitate community discussion, the page could be moved to a different namespace, where it automatically gets a "discussion" button. Even though it looks like regular users could rename the page, this looks like "your" page. What do you think?

      Loading editor
    • Any discussion that's taken place has been on user pages/walls, which seems to be working pretty well thus far, especially since the conversations are typically site-specific ;)

        Loading editor
    • If conversations are site-specific (no surprise there), what has that got to do with my suggestion?

To you, discussion may seem to work well, because you are currently the focal point of the discussion. But the page should be the focal point. Do you see the difference?

To me, discussing this page via walls does not appear to work well. Currently, any discussion regarding the page is not directly associated with it. This makes any discussion hard to find. This makes it hard for potential or actual contributors to understand the state of discussion, even to know whether there is discussion, and to take part in any discussion - where do they go look for such discussion? For example, our dialogue here is relevant to the page. If the dialogue was in a comment or on a talk page, to see it, people would need at most one click and some scrolling. Here, people need to at least click to your user page, then to your wall, and then scan the posts, possibly with more clicks and scrolling. I did exactly that, to see whether any discussion is already underway. That takes time away from everyone who wants to discuss that page.

Also, the difficulty in taking part in a discussion makes it hard for you to see how much interest there is in such a discussion.

A talk page would make the page itself the focal point of discussion about it. And it would keep the discussion about the page associated with the page, even if the page is later renamed.

Even if a page has only one principal contributor, that does not mean that it should be part of that user's namespace. Only pages whose content is specific to a user, or not intended to be "shared", should be part of that user's name space. Examples are if it voices the user's plans or opinions or is a work in progress where the user does not want others to contribute. Being the pricipal contributor to a page does not make the page content specific to you, though. If a page is intended for use by a general wiki community, and this looks to be one of those, it should not be in a user name space.

That page should be moved out of your name space. You want it to thrive? Give it to the community. It is the wiki way.

  • Hey Raylan.

I'm quite picky when it comes to working with code, and I'm finding the gaming footer we've had implemented a little odd. Actually, this was a mistake I was guilty of until someone explained it to me. Towards the end of the template code below there are two sets of noinclude tags. For some reason, this arrangement causes line breaks to be inserted in between the two sets, and this is rather inefficient and also visually disruptive. Consider changing it so that there is only one set of tags rather than two alongside each other, as shown from the example of the last five lines turned into four lines at the end. Thanks.

    • Oh, that's weird :P I hadn't even noticed - thanks for pointing it out! I will change all the footers today.

        Loading editor
    • Ah, I think I've identified the other half of the issue. An extra line break is being created because <br clear="all"/> is a line below the previous division, which is the end-table wikitext. Yes, for some reason this matters! I've had painful experiences with getting templates to display correctly in the past, and the reason was almost always as insignificant-looking as this! Consider changing it so that the break is moved up a line as shown in the second example. Hopefully that should be all!

  • Can you add this wiki to the games footer?

      Loading editor
  • Both of the active Neptunia wikis used to be listed under the old banner which was (arbitrarily? and without discussion?) changed to the new system. Can you please list w:c:hyperdimensionneptunia?

Also I'd like the Mugen Souls wiki and the Senran Kagura wiki to be listed.

      Loading editor
    • Yes, indeed! Consider all those listed and approved.

Apologies for not reaching out to you - I attempted to contact all the communities in the old footers I knew about, but a small handful apparently slipped through the cracks :(

        Loading editor
    • On another note - has there been a merge considered between the two Hyperdimension sites?

    • Sorry I forgot about it in my last post but could your also add the Atelier wiki to the new footer. Thanks Feinoha Talk 17:28, October 5, 2015 (UTC)
